ISNH Condemns the Killing of Journalist Steven Sotloff
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful - Assalam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh (Peace be upon you)
Like all citizens across the nation and the world, we are again in disbelief and shock over the despicable and horrific murder of an innocent man, the late journalist Steven Sotloff. Our prayers and hearts go out to his family and friends. We, as Muslims and Americans, do not tolerate violence in any way shape of form, as it is strictly against the principles and virtues of Islam. Our religion is one of peace and brotherly/sisterly love.
We strongly condemn this act of pure barbarism. The ones who perpetrated this killing are in no way following the essence of Islam. The murder of Steven Sotloff is in direct conflict with the teachings of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (Peace be Upon Him). We separate ourselves from these extremists who twist and brainwash uneducated, young people. They lure them with money, firearms and the power to take life, without mercy.
We are all united---as Muslims, as Americans and as human beings---to preserve the preciousness of life and the establishment of peace. We hope and pray that those who perpetrated this vicious crime be brought to justice. Good and Justice WILL prevail over Terror and Evil.
We ask Allah Almighty to give us the opportunity to be good role models and be good citizens. Let us all pray for Peace and stand united against violence.
Allah says:"And certainly, We shall test you with something of fear, hunger, loss of wealth, lives and fruits, but give glad tidings to As-Saabireen patient ones, etc.). Who, when afflicted with calamity, say: "Truly! To Allah we belong and truly, to Him we shall return." They are those on whom are the Salawaat (i.e. blessings, etc.) (i.e. who are blessed and will be forgiven) from their Lord, and (they are those who) receive His Mercy, and it is they who are the guided-ones."
